SSB organizes exhibition-cum-youth mela to poromote skill development, sportsmanship, and environmental awareness

KOKRAJHAR,FEB 24: The 31 Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Gossaigaon, successfully organized an exhibition-cum-youth mela at Boshgaon playground under Gossaigaon subdivision, bringing together the local community and youth for a day filled with activities focused on skill development, sportsmanship, and environmental awareness.

The event featured a Millets Mela, where various companies showcased and prepared millet-based dishes, promoting healthy and sustainable food choices. Simultaneously, the Closing Ceremony of the Vocational Training on Computer marked the culmination of a crucial skill-building initiative aimed at equipping participants with essential digital literacy. Further emphasizing youth engagement, a volleyball tournament was held, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship, while six sports clubs were provided with sports kits to encourage greater participation in athletic activities.

As part of the community outreach efforts, Medical Civic Action (MCA) and Veterinary Civic Action (VCA) programs were conducted to provide necessary healthcare assistance. 
Additionally, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation, the 31 Battalion distributed saplings to promote afforestation and ecological sustainability. To support the welfare of the bordering youth, a KPKB Canteen Stall was set up, offering essential goods at subsidized rates, while a Library Books Exhibition provided access to educational resources, inspiring young minds to cultivate a reading habit.

The event was honored by the presence of distinguished officers, including Sh. E Chauba, Commandant (Veterinary) of the 6th Battalion SSB Raniguli; Sh. S S Raina, Commandant (Medical); Sh. Jeet Singh, Second-in-Command (Officiating Commandant); Sh. L N Singh, Deputy Commandant; and Sh. Dighade S R, Deputy Commandant. The Chief Guest, Sh. Jiren Basumatary, MLA  Gossaigaon, and Sh. Aaninda Basumatary , President UPPL, Gossaigaon commended the 31 Bn SSB for its commendable efforts in organizing such a meaningful initiative that fosters community engagement and empowers the youth.
This Exhibition-cum-Youth Mela successfully reinforced the principles of skill development, sportsmanship, and environmental responsibility, leaving a lasting impact on the community and inspiring continued participation in such initiatives.
