BTC Government to introduce Sports in Primary Schools for holistic development

KOKRAJHAR,FEB 24: A one-day orientation cum refresher course programme of the officials from the sports & youth welfare department, especially physical instructors (PI) was organised on Monday being held at the CHD office conference hall of sports & youth welfare department, Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.

A total of 60 officials including physical instructors, office staffs participated the event,and emphasizes towards the uplift and development of the sports and youth welfare department.
The event was organised by the directorate of sports & youth welfare department, government of Bodoland Territorial Region to enhance sports development at the grassroots level across the Bodoland region.
Daobaisa Boro,the executive member of the Bodoland Territorial Region graced the occasion and inaugurated the event amidst presence of officials and participants.

He stated that the sports & youth welfare department has been emphasizing for bringing uplift of the sporting arena in the region.
He said that the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) government has made a landmark decision to introduce sports activities in primary schools, aiming to promote physical fitness and nurture young talent from an early age. 

The BTC Sports Department and the Education Department will jointly work on this initiative to enhance sports development at the grassroots level.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the “Orientation cum Refresher Course” for employees serving under the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare Department, BTC.

Speaking at the event, EM Boro has  highlighted the significance of the initiative. He emphasized that introducing sports at the primary school level could be a game-changer for sports development in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
“This initiative holds immense potential to nurture young talent and foster a culture of sports in the region. We have decided to include sports activities in primary schools, with training sessions to be conducted once a week across various sports disciplines,” Boro said.

The orientation program saw participation from key officials, including Swmdwn Mushahary, CHD of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, BTC, Dr. Shailesh Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor at LNIPE Guwahati and Dr. N. Suhindar Singh, among others.
