Panchanan Bera won marathon race in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 27: Panchanan Bera of West Bengal spotted first in the 34 kilometres marathon race competition held in Kokrajhar on Sunday.

A total of 450 participants from various parts of the country, including Assam, the host Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Bihar, Uttar Pradesh,West Bengal took part in the marathon which was organised by the youth cell of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) to create awareness on drugs-free environment amongst the citizens across the region.
The competition was carried out for men and women categories that created a sporting amusement.

Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) flagged off the event at the Dihung Sports Club playground, Khagrabari Banargaon in Kokrajhar in the august presence of MCLA and UPPL general secretary,Madhab Chandra Chetry, BTR executive member and youth cell president of UPPL, Dr Nilut Swargiary, MLA Lawrence Islary,youth cell working president Iraqdao Brahma, Media Cell chairman Hantigiri Narzary,and senior dignitaries.

The marathon race competition was carried out under a theme of youth for better tomorrow with bringing a healthy health and wellness health amongst the citizens.
The event was started from Banargaon and concluded at the Rup Nath Brahma playground, Ramfalbil after a run of 34 kilometres traversed via Chandrapara,Elaishrijhar,Dhawliguri,Ghoskata,Dotma,Serfanguri.

In the men’s category, Panchanan Bera of West Bengal secured the first spot, Shiv Kumar Nishad of Uttar Pradesh second , and Hitesh Boro of Baksa( BTR) spotted third respectively.
In the women’s category, Mamata Kumari of Odisha spotted first,Ansumwi Boro of Baksa and Sotima Boro of Kokrajhar spotted second and third respectively.

The marathon race competition featured both men’s and women’s categories which is aimed to create awareness on drugs-free environment amongst the citizens.
The first winners in each category were awarded cash Rs. 50,000 along with a trophy. The second and third winners were received Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 15,000 respectively, along with trophies.

The marathon race event has been aiming to promote a healthy and drugs-free Bodoland.
CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro hailed the initiatives initiated by the youth cell of UPPL to promote awareness against drugs using environment in the region.

He said that the UPPL party is uncompromising commitment towards eradicating the menace of drugs from the society and building a healthier, brighter future for Bodoland.
” This morning, I was glad to flag off and participate in UPPL’s “Youth for Better Tomorrow Marathon,” joining our spirited UPPL youth to raise awareness for a drugs-free BTR. The marathon, covering the route from Bonorgaon to Dotma Bazar and Serfanguri, stands as a powerful symbol of our party’s uncompromising commitment towards eradicating the menace of drugs from our society and building a healthier, brighter future for Bodoland”, CEM Boro said.

General Secretary of youth cell, UPPL, Sangrang Brahma told that the marathon race concluded with a successful program that saw a good response from the participants.He said that the youth cell has aimed to create awareness on drugs free environment.
