Bhutan condemns Pahalgam terrorist attack
Kokrajhar, April 28: The celebration of the second edition of Rongjali Bwisagu festival being held at the Saralpara along the India -Bhutan border in Kokrajhar district on Sunday that created an amusement of cultural integration among the border residents
The event was organised jointly by departmants of Tourism and Cultural, government of Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) that brought great enthusiasm at the Saralpara picnic spot near the India-Bhutan border in the district of Kokrajhar.
During the celebration, a vibrant cultural gathering witnessed with featuring traditional folk dances and songs representing different communities, including Bodo, Rabha, Garo, Adivasi, Gorkha, and Koch Rajbongshi.
Additionally, an eight-member delegation from neighboring Bhutan participated the event and enjoyed the fervour of the festivities amongst the gathering.
Dawa Penjor, Secretary General of the Bhutan India Friendship Association (BIFA), expressed his happiness after attending the event, said he hope that through the celebration of the border Bwisagu festival by the BTR government, the friendship between India and Bhutan will be further strengthened.
He has praised the BTR government, noting that today’s celebration of the Rongjali Baisagu Festival amidst the natural surroundings of Saralpara at the India-Bhutan border highlighted a great example of unity and harmony among the people of the border area.
Meanwhile, BIFA Secretary General, Dawa Penjor strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Pahalgam recently in Jammu & Kashmir, where terrorists brutally killed 28 innocent civilians.
He stated that such heinous acts of terrorism are not in line with the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent India and that Bhutan never supports such extremist activities.
However, he also mentioned that the incident at Pahalgam has deeply saddened the friendly nation of Bhutan.
‘ Bhutan is a peace-loving country and never shelters extremism’,he said adding that Bhutan emphasized that the relationship between India and Bhutan has been very sweet and unbroken for generations.He said that the exchange of arts and culture between the two countries would further strengthen the bonds of friendship.
The event was attended by local MLA Lawrence Islary, UPPL leader Kampa Borgoyary, BTC Executive Member Daobaisa Boro, Saikhlong Basumatary, MCLA Reoreoa Narzihary, and several dignitaries.
