CM Himanta Biswa Sarma will grace the celebration
KOKRAJHAR,JAN 27: Marking the 5th anniversary of the historic BTR Peace Accord(Bodoland Territorial Region), the BTR government is commemorating the BTR accord day celebration has began from Monday with a series of events over two days.
Notably,the BTR Peace Accord, which was regarded as third Bodo accord, was signed on January 27, 2020, between the Bodo movement groups(ABSU,ex-NDFB and UBPO), and the the centre and Assam government.
The celebration was carried out in all districts and 40 constituencies of the Bodoland Territorial Region on Monday.
The celebration kicked off today, with a grand bike rally in Kokrajhar, which saw enthusiastic participation, including that of BTR chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro.
The rally was started at Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr,and concluded at the same via traversed to JD Road, Titaguri, Shantinagar,new flyover.
CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro and district commissioner of Kokrajhar,Masanda Magdalin Pertin flagged off the rally amidst presence of huge participation.
The rally highlighted the peace and progress achieved in the region since the signing of the historic BTR peace accord.
The rally saw a grand participation cutting across the communities across the region, and extended their support and cooperation in the celebration.
In the afternoon, an award distribution ceremony was held at the Bodofa Cultural Complex, where individuals excelling in various fields were honored by the BTR government for their contributions to society.
On January 28, Assam chief minister,Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend various programmes scheduled being held at Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar. Sarma will inaugurate the newly constructed hostels for BTC EMs (Executive Members) and MCLAs (Members of the Council Legislative Assembly) at Harinaguri along the Baukhungri Hills, lay the foundation stone of Kokrajhar University campus, and perform the Gwthar Bathou San celebration at the Bathou Traditional & Cultural Center at Bagansali in Kokrajhar town. The CM Dr Sarma will address a public gathering during the event.
Speaking to The Hills Times about the progress of the peace accord, CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro, one of the key signatories of the BTR accord, expressed satisfaction with its success. He emphasised that the accord has brought peace, stability, and development to the region, marking a significant milestone in the history of BTR.

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) celebrated the BTR peace accord day centrally at Kashikotra HS School playground in Chirang district.
The celebration marked the glorious fifth year of the historic BTR peace accord that brought an ushering of sustainable development and peace across the region.
