KOKRAJHAR,MAY 14: Noted social worker and former general secretary of Banargaon anchalik committee ABSU,Maneswar Basumatary passed away on Tuesday evening at a private hospital in Guwahati.
According to family source, Basumatary was undergoing treatment for past few days ago after a health complications at a hospital in Guwahati,and breathed his last on Tuesday evening around 6.30 PM.
His lifeless body was taken to his Sikhargaon Banargaon native village,and today performed his rites after performing rituals amidst presence of well-wishers and citizens cutting across the communities.
He was former president of undivided Dotma anchalik committee ABSU,and president of Banargaon primary Bodo Sahitya Sabha.
He was regarded as one of the prominent personalities in the greater Banargaon and associated with various social organisations and social activities in his life. He was 65.
Various organisations and individuals, including All Bodo Students Union, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Tribal Sangha, Dularai Bodo Somaj, UPPL party have extended their deep condolences and mourning on the demise of Basumatary.
Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region,and UPPL president, Lawrence Islary, MLA of Kokrajhar extended their heartfelt condolences on the expire of Maneswar Basumatary.
CEM Boro, in his condolence message said that the society lost a good social worker to his death.
” I’m extending my heartfelt condolences and deep mourning on the demise of Basumatary. I pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul”, Boro said.
