Joint delegation team urged Home Minister Amit Shah for timely implementation of the Bodo Peace Accord

KOKRAJHAR, JULY 8: A high level review meeting on the implementation of the Bodo Peace Accord 2020 was held with Union Home Minister,Amit Shah on Tuesday in New Delhi.

A four member joint delegation team representing Govt of BTR and ABSU led by Pramod Boro,the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Rwngwra Narzary, Rajya Sabha MP, ABSU president Dipen Boro and General Secretary Khanindra Basumatary, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the Krishna Menon Marg, New Delhi.

The delegation has urged the Union Govt and Union Home Minister Shah to review and ensure the timely implementation of the clauses of the Bodo Peace Accord 2020, and granting of Rs 1500 crore for educational development infrastructure across the region.
The delegation team has made discussion on several major key issues which are included the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill be introduced in ensuring Parliament session.
As per Clause 4.3 of the BTR Peace Accord, the 125th Amendment Bill to Article 280 will be introduced and passed during the Monsoon Session of Parliament which is schedule to be starting on 21st July 2025.

In line with Clause 6.1, the granting of Scheduled Tribe (Hills) status to Bodos residing in Karbi Anglong was for immediate implementation.
The delegation team has been fully emphasized to make inclusion of Bodo majority villages in Sonitpur and Biswanath districts.The delegation team has urged the Union Govt for
fully inclusion of Boro-majority villages in Sonitpur and Biswanath districts as stated in Clause (i) of 3.1 of the BTR Accord.

The meeting discussed with necessary strategies on the release of six former NDFB members, including Ranjan Daimary, was taken up for consideration in line with the reconciliation spirit of the Bodo Peace Accord.
As per Clause 10.1, the Central and State Governments will allocate ₹1500 Crore for rapid development of major institutions like Central University, NIT, NERIMS, along with implementation of projects mentioned in the peace accord.

During the meeting,the delegation urged the Union Home Minister to conduct of special paramilitary recruitment for Bodo youths under the spirit of BTR peace accord.Under Clause 10.2, all six provisions relating to the recruitment of Bodo youth into paramilitary and armed forces were thoroughly discussed.
I Minister Amit Shah has assured immediate action with detailed deliberation.

CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro has stated that the meeting was cordial and fruitful towards the implementation of the Clauses of the Bodo Peace Accord He said that the Bodoland region have been witnessed with prevailing of peace and integration among the communities since signing of BTR Peace Accord.
