Joint delegation team of BSS-ABSU seek introduction of Bodo in DU

KOKRAJHAR, AUG 7: A six member’s joint delegation team of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) visited the Faculty of Arts and Department of Modern Indian Languages Literary Studies in Delhi University and submitted a memorandum demanding introduction of the department of Bodo in the University of Delhi on Monday.

The team was comprised of Dr Surath Narzary, president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Dipen Boro, president ABSU, Kungkhra Swargiary, adviser of ABSU, Kameswar Boro, secretary of BSS Kwrwmdao Wary, vice president ABSU and Khanindra Basumatary, ABSU general secretary.
The team had met, Prof Amitava Chakraborty, Dean, Faculty of Arts and head of department (HOD), Department of MIL & Literary Studies and Dr. Mitali Barman, Assistant Prof. Department of MIL & Literary Studies.

The meeting was meaningful and informative for the Bodo language learners, some key assurances for immediate possible development for introduction of Bodo as MIL and Literary Studies is being informed by the Dean.
Dean of arts faculty and HoD, Prof Chakraborty assured to start Bodo MIL under Ability Enhancement Course (AEC) from this year under Department of modern Indian language and literary studies which are included proposal to appoint Guest faculty for teaching of Bodo in University of Delhi, creation of permanent post the university will approach to government.

The joint delegation of ABSU and BSS also will make representation to Union Education Minister.
Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Dr Surath Narzary said that the day was regarded as historic day as joint delegation team representing Bodo Sahitya Sabha and All Bodo Students Union met the Dean of the University of Delhi which was received a positive response.
” Today is a historic day as our dream for introduction of Bodo in Delhi University will come true. ABSU and BSS appeal to Bodo students those who come to study at University of Delhi to take Bodo as MIL from this year”, Dr Narzary said.

ABSU president Dipen Boro informed that the joint delegation team’s initiative got a good response from the University of Delhi while seeking introduction of Bodo.
