KOKRAJHAR,JUNE 30: The National Integration Day of Santhals Hull Divas was observed on Sunday across the country to commemorate the 169th National Day of Santhali community who had played pivotal role in the Indian independence movement.
In New Delhi,the Hull Divas was organised at the Constitution Club, which was organised by the All Santhal Students Union (ASSU) where leaders, members from different organisations of the Santhal community participated.
Pramod Boro,the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) graced the occasion as chief guest.
CEM Boro, in his speech recalled contributions and sacrifice of the Santhali community who had played pivotal role in the independence movement of the Indians.He said that
the Santal community has played a pivotal role in Bharat’s independence movement and their role taking the nation to new heights is immense.
“It was an honoured to attend Hul Diwas
commemorating the 169th National Integration Day of Santals organised by All Santal Students Union (ASSU) at Constitution Club, New Delhi which has been observed to commemorate the first independence movement of Bharat, on June 30, 1855 under the leadership of Sido Kanhu, a Santhal Hul or rebellion rose to challenge the atrocities of the British Raj, wherein thousands of heroes attained martyrdom”,Boro said.
He has reiterated how the community has given new wings to the development of Bodoland Territorial Region’s cultural and socio-economic landscape.
” I am wishing that may the community keep growing and contribute even more towards the region’s growth story. And may it’s language and culture gain prominence in the global stage. My best wishes on the national integration day of the Santhals “, Boro added.
Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary, BTR executive member, Wilson Hasda,and several dignataries were present in the event.
In Kokrajhar,the Hull Divas was observed at Kachugaon community hall amidst presence of huge gathering of the community participants.
BTR executive member, Ukil Mushahary, Gossaigaon LAC MLA,Jiran Basumatary, BTR MCLA, Madhab Chandra Chetry were present in the event.
The observation recalled the contributions and sacrifice of Sidhu Murmu and Kanhu Murmu who laid their lives towards the independence movement of the Indians.
