KOKRAJHAR,JUNE 29: The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro, addressed the “Meet the Press” programme being organised at the Press Club of India, New Delhi on Saturday which has been marked the first programme by the forum since the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic
CEM Pramod Boro was warmly received by NEMF president Sanjib Baruah, secretary Pranjal Pratim Das, and other members of the forum.
CEM Boro, in his address, discussed various issues, including the challenges facing the BTR, his vision for the region, and the situation in Manipur state in the northeastern region.
Criticizing the previous Congress government in the state of Assam, Boro remarked, “Because of the instability (in BTR) for a long time there was no development. The previous government did not have any plan for the region (BTR).” He emphasized that the situation has improved under the BJP-led government, stating, “We are working together under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He has a good vision. We need to develop the region.”
Highlighting the economic challenges in BTR, Boro said, “Economic and livelihood is a big challenge in our region. We are trying to skill our youths so that they can become entrepreneurs.”
He has also stressed the importance of education as a primary focus in the Bodoland region.
Boro noted improvements in the law and order situation in BTR, mentioning that the recent Lok Sabha elections were conducted peacefully, without bloodshed for the first time in decades. “This is the first election (Lok Sabha) after three to four decades, where there was no bloodshed. This time for the first time, the people voted without any fear,and come forward in a free and fair situation,” he said.
When questioned about the Manipur issue, Boro described it as “a very sensitive issue” and urged all communities to seek reconciliation. “I request every community to rethink. Still, we have time for reconciliation,” he stated.
Notably, the event has been provided a platform for Boro to share his insights and plans for the future development of the BTR, addressing both local and national concerns.
He has hailed the organisers for organising the event to facilitate opportunity to interact with media fraternities.

He said that the discussion revolved around several important issues of the North East region including the new era of peace, progress & good governance which has dawned in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) over the last 3 years.
