KOKRAJHAR, JAN 23: The Gwthar Bathou San(Bathou Divosh) was celebrated with Bathou tradition on Tuesday across the districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) as well state as a whole as the day was declared state holiday by state government.
The Gwthar Bathou San-2024 (Bathou Divosh) was being celebrated in Bathou tradition with religious fervour across the state on the second Tuesday of Magh month.
It is need to be mentioned that state government declared Gwthar Bathou San(Bathou Divosh) as a full fledged holiday to be celebrated every year on the second Tuesday of Magh month, and accordingly being celebrated with fervor of festivity.
In Kokrajhar,the Bathou San was celebrated at Bathou Thansali Baganshali,which was organised by Bathou Traditional & Cultural Center, Kokrajhar.
Bathou devotee and peoples cutting across the communities thronged at the Thansali and offered their worship and prayer to the Bwrai Bathou (Lord Shiva) on the occasion.
In the morning, the Bathou flag was hoisted followed by floral tribute(Gwtwi Shi Baonai) at the Bathou Thansali.
During the occasion,Bathou devotee, citizens from all sections come with traditional music instruments.Kham,Sifhumg,Jota etc participated and offered their workshop and prayers to the Bwrai Bathou.
In Tamulpur, Pramod Boro,the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) graced the occasion as chief guest on the occasion of Gwthar Bathou San celebration being held at Hirimba Bathou Thansali.
CEM Boro offered his worship and prayers to the Bwrai Bathou, and extended his greetings and best wishes to all of the Bathou followers on the occasion of Bathou San.
He said that Bathou is the aboriginal religion of the Bodos.’ Bodos must keep alive of the Bathouism which is regarded as the identity of the Bodo peoples through language,culture and religion’, he said adding that the Bathou religion is the religion of worshipping through Bathou tradition which is the aboriginal religion of the Bodos.
‘We must keep alive of Bathou religion making popular preaching through which Bodos could be identified in the world’,he said.
He has been emphasizing to make more popularity of the Bathou religion in days to come.
In Udalguri,Bathou Divosh was celebrated at various Thansali with Bathou tradition that witnessed a huge thronging since morning.
Peoples from all walks of life coming forward with traditional Bodo attire and offered their workshop and prayers to the Bwrai Bathou on the occasion.
Assam cabinet minister, Urkhao Gwra Brahma,Bodo Sahitya Sabha president,Dr Surath Narzary, ABSU president Dipen Boro, MLA Lawrence Islary have also extended their greetings and best wishes to all Bathou followers on the holy occasion of Gwthar Bathou San.
