Ex-NDFB delegation meets Home Minister Amit Shah on pending BTR peace accord Implementation

KOKRAJHAR, DEC 16: A delegation team of ex-NDFB leaders, led by executive member (EM) of Bodoland Territorial Region, Ranjit Basumatary, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah,Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, and IB Director Tapan Deka in Chhattisgarh to discuss issues concerning ex-NDFB members jailed in various cases. The meeting focused on the pending implementation of the BTR Peace Accord,2020, signed on 27th January.

The delegation included members of the ex-NDFB Welfare Association, namely General Secretary Dilranjan Narzary, vice president Binual Wary, Secretary BK Alongbar, and cashier Sahen Wary. 
During the meeting, the delegation urged the Home Minister to expedite the implementation of the accord, emphasizing the need for immediate action to address the concerns of rx-NDFB members.

In response, Home Minister Amit Shah assured the delegation that the Home Secretary and IB Director will visit Assam next week. This move is seen as a significant step towards addressing the grievances and finding a long-term resolution to the pending issues.
BTR EM Ranjit Basumatary stated that the meeting with Union Home Minister was a pivotal day for the people of the Bodoland region.He said that the meeting was heartening to see representatives from various extremist groups from across India, who have come forward for peace talks, participate in this discussion.

” The meeting was a pivotal day in Chhattisgarh. I had the privilege of interacting with Hon’ble Home Minister, Amit Shah Home Secretary and IB Director Tapan Deka regarding our brothers who are jailed in different cases. As an Ex NDFB member who has been part of the BTR accord, I urged the Hon’ble Home Minister to take action as per the accord, which unfortunately hasn’t been implemented yet”, Basumatary said.
” It was heartening to see representatives from various extremist groups from across India, who have come forward for peace talks, participate in this discussion”,he said,” The Hon’ble Home Minister assured us that the Home Secretary and IB Director will visit Assam next week, marking a significant step towards finding a resolution. I’m hopeful that this will pave the way for the release of our brothers and a brighter future for all”.
