Domachi Mela begins in Kokrajhar

Nearly 100 stalls erected at the mela 

KOKRAJHAR,JAN 9: A three-day Asomi Bhogali/Domashi Mela -2025 began on Thursday being held at the Pragati Bhawan Complex in Kokrajhar.

The event has been initiated to accord marketing opportunities before the upcoming Bhogali Bihu/Domashi Bwisagu,which was organised jointly the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission, Assam State Urban Livelihoods Mission and Kokrajhar Municipality Board.

Nearly hundred stalls from different places of the district representing various self help groups (SHG), Mahila Samities,NGOs etc have participated the event,and showcased their products of the producing ventures as their schedule projects.

The mela especially showcased various hand crafts,hand weaving dresses/clothes,food items etc across the venue that garnered attractions of the visitors.

A lighting of the lamp was performed by the attended invited guests on the occasion besides beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi have expressed their successful story and experience of their journey before the august presence of the audience.
A cultural program, dance competition was also carried out in the event.

The executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Saikhong Basumatary, MLA Lawrence Islary, District Commissioner, Masanda Magdalin Pertin,Kokrajhar Municipality Board chairperson, Pratibha Brahma, UPPL media chairman, Hantigiri Narzary, and several distinguished dignitaries were present in the inaugural ceremony.

EM Basumatary stated that the Asomi Bhogali/Domashi Mela is an annual calendar event of the ASLRM to showcase the products of the SHGs and stakeholder members of the concerned involved associates.He has lauded the mela organisers, said that the mela is creating a space while selling the various products which are produced by different SHGs,and other associate members under the ASLRM and ASULM missions across the region.He said that the government of Bodoland Territorial Region,and state governments are jointly working dedicatedly towards the welfare and uplift of the entrepreneurs who are involved with hand weaving, hand crafts, locally produced food items etc.He has urged the SHG members and organisers to produce more products to earn more benefits and to live in a dignified opportunities for the economic viability amongst the society.

MLA Islary said that the mela could be involved many SHG members and associate the society while carrying out the importance of the producing locally produced food items, products on various aspects including hand craft, hand weaving clothes etc.He mentioned that the mela has given an opportunity for marketing to sale locally produced products which are directly associated with SHGs amongst the citizens.
