Extended delegate sitting of ABSU resolves several key decisions
KOKRAJHAR, JUNE 3: Dipen Boro and Khanindra Basumatary have been retained as the president and general secretary respectively of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) for next two-year term, during an extended delegate sitting of the students’ union held at the Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Auditorium of Bodoland University in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.
Notably, this important delegate sitting was originally scheduled during the 57th Annual Conference of ABSU, which took place on March 13–16, 2025, at Bodofa Fwthar, Dotma, Kokrajhar district,and the students’ union have successfully organised the extended delegate sitting in Kokrajhar.
The meeting witnessed a well attended participation of ABSU delegates, senior leaders, and student representatives across the state of Assam,and unit committees representing various states of the country.
During the session,discussions focused on reinforcing the union’s long-standing commitments, including the effective implementation of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Accord, educational reforms through ‘Mission Quality Education,’ socio-economic upliftment of the Bodo community, and the preservation of Bodo language, literature, and culture.
One of the most notable announcements came from Dipen Boro,ABSU president, who unveiled plans to launch a week-long ‘Bodofa Camp’ aimed at nurturing a disciplined and ideologically sound youth force within the organisation.
“We have formed a new committee that includes both experienced members and young students, many of whom are from Bodoland University and Delhi. We want to channel their energy to strengthen ABSU and serve our community. The Bodofa Camp will be organised to enhance the physical and mental well-being of our workers, instill values, discipline, and the guiding principles of ABSU. Our focus will be on character building and collective responsibility,” Boro said.
He further emphasised that ABSU’s work must always place the interests of the Bodo tribe above all, followed by the organisation and its members.
“We will align our goals with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, especially when it comes to education reform and youth empowerment,” he added. Boro also said that the students’ union will continue its grassroots-level engagement to address the issues faced by the Bodo people and called for collective dedication to ABSU’s mission. The Bodofa Camp is expected to be a landmark initiative to rejuvenate the union’s base and deepen its impact among the youth.
During the session,the students’ union resolved several resolutions towards the uplift and welfare of the Bodo community.
The resolutions are included observation of the 5th June 2025 “World Environment Day” by tree plantation program of more than lakh saplings across the state.
The upcoming “Bodoland Martyrs Day” on 12 June, 2025 will be observed at Bijni Sub-Division under Chirang district, the 125th Amendment Bill of the Sixth Schedule of Indian Constitution and Article 280 to streamline the financial resources of Sixth Schedule, inclusion of more villages from Sonitpur and Biswanath district and southern part of existing BTR districts, Land entitlement to the FRC villages of Sonitpur and Biswanath district of Assam under FRA Act, 2006.
The session resolved for installation of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma statue in entire northeast and other parts of the country as a mark of respect and promotion of his principle “live and let live”.

The students’ union also resolved o organise Bodoland Mohotsav 2.0 in 2025, in the month of November at Kokrajhar inviting the President of India.
