KOKRAJHAR, JAN 25: In a significant development in Bodoland Territorial Region government, the chief executive member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro ceremonially launched the E-Office management system at a programme held at BTC Secretariat, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar on Thursday.
Notably, the government of BTR has been making the first Sixth Schedule Council to adopt the system after the government of Assam.
CEM Boro while rolling out the programme mentioned that the E-Office framework will not only fast-track development but will also ensure efficiency amongst the officers. He mentioned that e-office has paved the way for a new era of Smart Governance for the benefit of the nearly thirty-five lakhs citizens residing in the five districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). He also outlined the importance of adopting new governance measures as an enabler to address the aspirations of the people of Bodoland region.
All officers of the Bodoland Territorial Council have been provided with dedicated personal login identities and digital signatures and more than 65,000 files have been digitized from 55 departments, branches, and cells of the BTC Secretariat.
Personal information management system (PIMS) data for all including the Chief Executive Member, Executive Members(EM), BTC Legislative Assembly Speaker, and officers have been prepared to streamline the process of operating e-office.
Joint Secretary of BTC government, Bhaskarjyoti Rajbongshi mentioned that the IT infrastructure is being upgraded to meet the new demands of e-governance and the Creation of separate e-office software for BTC was initiated and deployed on 16th December 2023. He also mentioned that the Lay Out of Local Area Network (LAN) in the BTC Secretariat was carried out through NICSI, a subsidiary company of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
Hands-on training was conducted in the e-Lab set up at the BTC Secretariat by the Roll Out Team and Master Trainers. A State-of-the-Art Record Room has also been constructed to store the files scientifically.
A team of 8 Master Trainers were selected from BTC Secretariat staff and trained by the e-office team of Assam Secretariat (Civil) in Dispur to monitor the process in the initial phase of implementation.
E-Office is a Mission Mode Project (MMP) under the National e-Governance Programme of the Government. The product is developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and aims to usher in more efficient, effective, and transparent inter-government and intra-government transactions and processes.
