KOKRAJHAR,FEB 27: The Bodoland University marked National Science Day (NSD) 2025 with an extraordinary with a two-day celebration that began on Thursday being held at the Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Auditorium Hall of the university in Kokrajhar.

The event served as a vibrant platform, bringing together students, faculty, and researchers from various institutions to exhibit their groundbreaking innovations and cultivate scientific inquiry.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. BL Ahuja, Vice-Chancellor of Bodoland University, who eloquently underscored the transformative power of science and technology in shaping modern society. He lauded the engaging poster presentations and dynamic exhibits that embodied the immense potential of scientific exploration. Acknowledging the pressing challenges in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), such as a shortage of educators, Prof. Ahuja reaffirmed his belief that the event would serve as a catalyst for igniting passion in aspiring scientists and reinvigorating interest in scientific disciplines.

A special tribute was paid to Dr. C.V. Raman, the legendary physicist whose discovery of the Raman Effect earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. The event not only engaged the academic community but also played a pivotal role in enhancing public understanding of science. Dr. Subung Basumatary, Registrar of Bodoland University, commended the remarkable contributions of students and researchers, emphasizing that the event was designed to spark intellectual curiosity, fuel creativity, and inspire groundbreaking scientific pursuits.

A total of 15 models and 30 posters were showcased, reflecting the ingenuity and dedication of the participants. The event also witnessed a spirited speech competition, where an impressive number of students demonstrated their eloquence and deep understanding of scientific concepts. Furthermore, participants from various colleges enriched the celebration, infusing it with diverse perspectives and expertise. More than 150 participants from different colleges took part in the events. Some colleges and institute included: Science College, Bineshwar Brahma Engineering College Central Institute of Technology, Aronai College, Bodofa U.N. Brahma College and various departments from Bodoland University

The exhibition was meticulously judged by three esteemed experts: Dr. Chinmoy Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, Kokrajhar Government College; Dr. Medalson Ronghang, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, BBEC; and Dr. Prakash Kumar Nayak, Assistant Professor, Department of Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar. Their expert evaluations and insightful feedback added rigor and credibility to the event, further inspiring participants to push the boundaries of innovation.

Prof. Sujit Deka, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, extended profound gratitude to all contributors, recognizing the event’s vital role in fostering scientific progress both regionally and globally. He also highlighted that the celebration coincided with Bodoland University’s Foundation Day, making it a momentous dual occasion that reinforced the institution’s legacy of academic distinction and scientific excellence.

The event is set to reach its pinnacle tomorrow with the esteemed presence of the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTR, alongside regional authorities and academic leaders, reinforcing the indispensable role of science in societal progress and development.
