KOKRAJHAR,APRIL 11 : In a significant move towards increasing inclusivity, the government of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has proposed the active participation of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in all cultural events during the upcoming Bwisagu/Bihu celebrations. This aligns with the provisions of the Right of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and reinforces the Council’s commitment to equal opportunity and community representation.

As part of this initiative, at least one PwD will be encouraged and facilitated to participate in cultural programmes across various levels—community/village, block, and district. The step aims to ensure that festive platforms reflect the diverse social fabric of the region.

The initiative will be implemented in collaboration with the Hans Foundation’s Mobile Therapy Van Projects, currently operational in the districts of Baksa, Udalguri, Chirang, and Kokrajhar. The organizing committees and relevant authorities have been advised to extend full support to ensure accessibility, mobility, and logistical needs for effective inclusion.

Peoples cutting across the communities have hailed the initiatives initiated by the government of BTC while involving the PwDs in the region during the Bwisagu/Bihu celebrations.
