KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 4: The All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) staged a protest at Bhotgaon in Kokrajhar, opposing the recently passed Muslim Waqf Act Amendment Bill 2024.
Notably, the BJP led NDA government at the centre passed the Muslim Waqf Act Amendment Bill 2024 in the Parliament on Thursday

As part of their demonstration, AAMSU members wore black badges over their mouths to symbolize the silencing of minority voices. Protesters also burned copies of the bill, voicing sharp criticism against the BJP-led government.
The student body alleged that the amendment is anti-Muslim and has demanded its immediate withdrawal. AAMSU leaders warned that if the government fails to revoke the legislation, the organization will launch a widespread democratic movement across Assam.

The protest saw AAMSU leaders and activists chanting slogans such as “Down with BJP Government,” “Go Back Narendra Modi,” and “Go Back Himanta Biswa Sarma,” creating a charged atmosphere.
Jamir Ali Sheikh, president of AAMSU’s Kokrajhar district committee, announced that a massive sit-in protest will be held in Guwahati’s Sahjol on March 9 to further intensify opposition to the bill.
