KOKRAJHAR, MAY 26: The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro visited at the Frisbee Ultimate,The Ant, Rowmari in Chirang district on Sunday and interacted with the team of Frisbee Ultimate.
Notably, the Frisbee Ultimate is a unique team sport that builds self-discipline, agility, mindfulness, and promotes gender equality. The key element of Ultimate Frisbee is the Spirit of the Game (SOTG) which operates on five basic principles which includes good knowledge and application of the rules; safe play and spatial awareness; positive & respectful attitude towards teammates, fans, opponents; fair-mindedness and clear and calm communication.
It is noteworthy that The Ant,an NGO working for social uplift and development, engages with children & youth between 7-25 years for their physical, mental, emotional and social development.
Absence of body contact during the game, the presence of players from both genders, absence of any referee, and the presence of two team captains – one for general score are other unique features of the game.
CEM Boro said he was happy to have interacted with the team of Frisbee Ultimate, Rowmari, Chirang.He said that the spirit of the game amongst the youths is very much important to keep healthy health.
Meanwhile, the CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro also visited at the adjoining areas of Ultapani Forest areas today to inspect drought-affected areas and communities. The prolonged absence of rain and rising heat has affected humans, animals and vegetation alike across the areas.
Enroute, he also inspected a nursery, which is part of the Bodoland Green Mission to resuscitate the forest cover on a war footing.
He said that the government of Bodoland Territorial Region is committed to safeguarding the extremely rich & diverse forest resources that nature has so graciously endowed upon the government.
The executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Ranjit Basumatary, MCLA Madhab Chandra Chetry,senior government officials were also present during the visit.
