KOKRAJHAR, JUN 5: Along with rest of the state, the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) districts also joined the world environment day celebration on Monday with day-long programme scheduled.
In Udalguri, chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro graced as chief guest on the occasion of world environment day being held at Nalbari playground in Udalguri district.
Boro planted saplings to mark the world environment day celebration amidst presence of huge participation of citizens including BTR executive member Dr Nilut Swargiary at Mazbat Degree College & KBR Degree College in Udalguri district.
CEM Boro also inaugurated the newly installed statue of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former ABSU president at Nalbari playground and newly constructed District Library Building at Udalguri.
Boro also laid foundation stones to construct the Infrastructure Development of Mazbat Degree College & construction of New College Building of Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha Degree College, Orang under SOPD EDN/BTC 2022-23.
Boro while extending his greetings to the peoples of the state on the occasion of world environment day, said that a conducive & peaceful environment is essential for growth of health environment.
“A conducive & peaceful environment is essential for growth, whether it is for our talented young students or for the vibrant flora & fauna of BTR. It was a glad moment to plant saplings at the premises of Mazbat Degree College & KBR Degree College on the occasion of World Environment Day today.
He said that the government of BTR and forest department have been initiating to make green reforestation across the region. He said that the deforestation activities must be stopped at any cost among the society.
He has urged the citizens across the region for more plantation of saplings to make green and healthy reforestation in Bodoland region.
The development of the educational infrastructure of our colleges has been accorded top priority by our Govt of BTR. Was also pleased to lay the Foundation Stones
Boro remembered the taught and contributions of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma who sacrificed his whole life towards the welfare and integration of the society.
“Bodofa UN Brahma, the Father of Bodo people, taught us the importance of knowledge & holistic growth, both in governance as well as our personal lives.
Honouring his legacy, was pleased to inaugurate the Bodofa UN Brahma statue at Nalbari Playground, Udalguri today”, Boro said.
In Kokrajhar, the students union activists of All Bodo Students Union of Kokrajhar district carried out a cleanliness drive with the venture of beat plastic pollution in all the link road of town and it’s adjoining areas including rural areas also.
The UPPL party leaders, activists and members representing different block and primary committees across the region also joined hands in the world environment day celebration.
The UPPL have extended it’s happy greetings to all citizens on the day and appealed to plant more saplings for green environment.
