KOKRAJHAR,DEC 13: The two-day ‘Winter Session’ of the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly was concluded on Friday held at the BTC Legislative Assembly Hall, Bodofa Nwgwr building in Kokrajhar.
The session was chaired by Katiram Boro, the speaker of BTC Legislative Assembly.
On the concluding day today, the two significant bills were passed in the house that paved the way for bringing healthy regulations of the flood plain zoning and land & revenue regulation.
The bills are included the Bodoland Territorial Council Flood Plain Zoning Bill, 2024 and the BTC Land & Revenue Regulation (Application & Amendment) Bill, 2024 which received approval from the assembly. These bills have been expected to bring about important changes in land management and flood control situation within the BTC region.
Additionally, the Pramod Boro-led BTC Government secured an amount of Rs. 14.5787 (Fourteen Crore Fifty-Seven Lakh Eighty-Seven Thousand) under the Supplementary Demands for Grants in the council.
This funding is aimed at increasing the salaries and travel allowances of the BTC Speaker, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Deputy CEM, and Member of Council Legislative Assembly (MCLA) members.The demand was presented against the backdrop of the normal budget passed in the August 2024 budget Session.
The passing of these bills and the supplementary grants marks a key moment in the ongoing governance of the Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) while addressing the peoples’ welfare and development.
CEM Boro stated that the winter session concluded today with the passing of two important bills that will be paving the way for flood control and land regulation in the Bodoland region.He said that the house saw a constructive discussion and strategic vision creation towards the building up for sustainable development across the region.He said that the BTR government focus stays firmly on fostering peace and progress for the people of Bodoland region.

BTR executive member, Ranjit Basumatary stated that the winter session of the BTCLA concluded with passing of two bills as government has initiated various welfare initiatives in the region under the visionary leadership of Pramod Boro, the CEM of Bodoland Territorial Region towards the holistic development.He said that the BTR government remain committed to creating a brighter future for the citizens.
