KOKRAJHAR, JUNE 24: The VARTALAP: A Regional Media Workshop on the theme ‘Viksit Bharat Ka Amrit Kaal: 11 Years of Seva, Sushasan, Garib Kalyan’ was held on Tuesday at the NTPC Bongaigaon, Salakati in Kokrajhar.
The event was jointly organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Guwahati and NTPC Bongaigaon, Salakati as the workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 50 media professionals representing Kokrajhar and Chirang districts of the BTR.
The workshop opened with remarks by Pavni Gupta, Deputy Director, PIB Guwahati, who spoke on the objectives of the event and the vital role media plays in disseminating information about public welfare initiatives.
Lok Sabha MP of Kokrajhar HPC, Joyanta Basumatary, attending as the Chief Guest, highlighted the transformational journey of India over the past 11 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He spoke about various government initiatives rooted in service, good governance, and the upliftment of the underprivileged, while reiterating the national vision for a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
In his inaugural address, Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Wilson Hasda focused on youth welfare initiatives undertaken by the BTR Government, emphasising the importance of empowering young people in the region.
Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, Salakati welcomed the gathering and shared an overview of NTPC Bongaigaon’s contributions to regional development.
KM Prashanth, General Manager (Corporate Communications), NTPC, Salakati shared insights into NTPC’s contributions to nation-building and its strategic communication efforts aimed at public engagement and transparency.
The event was further enriched by the address of Ankur Lahoty, Head of Regional News Unit, Doordarshan News Assam, who spoke on ‘New Age Prasar Bharati: PB SHABD & Waves OTT’, highlighting the transformation of public broadcasting in the digital era.
A key feature of the workshop was a panel discussion on “Empowering Amrit Peedhi & Youth Welfare”, where experts and media professionals discussed the role of media in amplifying youth-focused schemes and enabling positive societal change.
The event was also attended by Dr. P.L. Bharati, In-charge of CARI, Guwahati, among other distinguished guests.
