KOKRAJHAR,OCT 15: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday announced the dates for the bye elections for 48 assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in six states including Assam for five assembly constituencies to be held on 13th November.
The bye elections in the state of Assam will take place on November 13 in five constituencies including Sidli, Bongaigaon,Samaguri,Behali and Dholai LAC.
The bye elections in Sidli LAC was necessitated following Joyanta Basumatary resignation after elected to the Lok Sabha, Bongaigaon LAC necessitated following Phani Bhushan Choudhury elected to the Lok Sabha, Samaguri LAC after Rakibul Hussain elected to the Parliament,Behali after Ranjit Dutta elected to the Parliament and Dholai LAC after Parimal Suklabhaidhya elected to the Lok Sabha during the Parliamentary elections held in May last.
The gazette notification of the bye election will be published on 18th October,the last date of the making nomination is October 25 and last date of withdrawal has been fixed on October 30.
The date of poll is 13 November and counting of vote is taking place on 23rd November.
The ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has hailed the announcement of dates for holding the bye elections in the state of Assam including Sidli LAC to be held on 13 November.
UPPL President and CEM of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro welcomed the announcement of dates for bye elections for five LACs in the state of Assam by the Election Commission of India today, said that the declared bye elections will be completed in a peaceful and smooth environment as per scheduled by the election commission.
He stated that the UPPL party under the banner of NDA alliance is fully prepared to contest the bye elections.
He has confident that NDA backed candidates in all five constituencies including Sidli LAC are getting last laugh in the bye elections.
He said that the Govt of Assam and Govt of BTR are jointly working dedicatedly towards the welfare and all round development of the common masses across the state,and accordingly peoples cutting across the communities are coming forward to extend support to the NDA alliance.
