KOKRAJHAR, JULY 10: The ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) expresses it’s deep condolences over the demise of eminent journalist and politician, Manjit Mahanta who passed away today morning at a hospital, Guwahati after a brief illness.
Notably, Mahanta was chairman of the Media department of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.
He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Guwahati for a few days and breathed his last at about 2 am today morning.
He was an eminent journalist amongst the journalists of the state and served as Editor in Chief in various daily newspapers and TV news channels in his days.
The demise of Mahanta was a great loss for the state.
The UPPL party while extending deep mourning and condolences to the bereaved family members.
” We extend our deep sorrow and condolences to the bereaved family members and prayers for eternal peace of the departed soul”, the UPPL party said.
