KOKRAJHAR ,JUNE 24: The Upendra Nath Brahma Trust(UNBT) has issued an appeal to all visitors to refrain from making political statements within the premises of Thulungapuri, the resting place of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, situated at Dotma in Kokrajhar district of Bodoland Territorial Region.
In a press statement issued to the media on Tuesday, UNB Trust chairman,Dr Dimacha Dwibrang Mwchahary expressed deep gratitude to scholars, political leaders, social activists, and citizens who regularly visit Thulungapuri,Dotma to pay homage to the iconic Bodo leader. The Trust acknowledged Thulungapuri’s transformation into a spiritual and philosophical centre, representing Bodofa’s ideals of peace, unity, and the philosophy of “Live and Let Live.”
However, the trust noted with concern that some recent media interactions at the site have involved political commentary, which it says undermines the sanctity of the space. “Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma is revered as a visionary above politics, akin to the stature of Mahatma Gandhi,” the statement read.
To preserve the spirit of the site, the Trust has appealed to the visitors to avoid making any political or controversial remarks within the Thulungapuri compound.
It has also urged the media personnel not to raise politically charged questions during visits.
“Thulungapuri stands as a beacon of inclusive philosophy and people’s unity. Let us preserve its sanctity and allow it to continue inspiring generations,” the statement added.
