KOKRAJHAR, DEC 29: A two-day Kisan Mela (Farmers’ Fair) 2023-24 began from today at Gendrabil ME school playground in Kokrajhar on Friday.
The mela was organised by Centrally Sponsored Scheme Agricultural Technology Management Agency (CSS-ATMA) and Department of Agriculture, Kokrajhar.
MLA of Kokrajhar East LAC, Lawrence Islary attended the programme, and ceremonially inaugurated the mela amidst presence of farmers’ from different places and government officials.
The mela has been featured a vibrant display and sale of an array of farmers’ produce and products, processed food items, locally crafted millet product and wines etc.
The farmer training on safe use of pesticides in agriculture crop field and marketing of agriculture produces and interaction with experts in pig rearing, fish farming and rearing of silk worms were will held during the two-days mela.
Among others, MCLA Doneswar Goyary, chief scientist KVK, Kokrahar Dr Sunil Kumar Paul, assistant manager ICRISET, Harsh Vardhan Mane, district agriculture officer Diganta Thapa were present.
MLA Islary said that the mela is creating a good environment for farmer fraternities while carrying out the new dimension of producing more crops as well marketting of agriculture produces across the region.He said that the mela is benefitted for farmers to learn more knowledge and information about the cropping up multiple crops and it’s sustainable development strategy creation.He has urged the farmer fraternities to produce massive multiple crops across the citizens.
