Tribal Sangha leader Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary passes away

KOKRAJHAR, JAN 20: Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary, imminent social worker and former president of All Assam Tribal Sangha passed away on Saturday morning at his Titaguri residence in Kokrajhar.

Borgoyary who is well-known amongst the down trodden indigenous peoples of the state breathed his last this morning around 9.15 am due to age ailments. He was 83. He left behind three sons and a daughter.

A multifaceted personality, Borgoyary retired as a school teacher from Kokrajhar Govt Higher Secondary & Multipurpose School,
He received chief minister Best Community Action Award in 2020.
He was the team leader of football team of Kokrajhar HS and MP school in Subroto Cup which emerged champions.
He was the chairman of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) constitution drafting committee, architect of ABSU’s emblem.
He was also the founder of Undivided Goalpara District Bodo Students Union in 1966 and All Bodo Students Union in 1967.
He was the president of Kokrajhar district Bodo Sahitya Sabha from 1967 to 1989. He actively participated in the Roman script movement of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and was jailed five months.
He was also associated with Bodo Sahitya Sabha, many social organisations in his days.
The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and UPPL president of UPPL party, Pramod Boro has conveyed his deep mourning and condolences to the bereaved family members of Borgoyary due to his demise.

He has prayed to the almighty god for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
He recalled the contributions of Borgoyary, who rendered his endless services towards the welfare and uplift of the tribal peoples across the state till his died. He was one of imminent founder members of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU).

” It is a pain moment to hear about the demise of Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary, imminent social worker and former president of All Assam Tribal Sangha,who passed away today morning”, Boro added.
The ruling UPPL party also expressed it’s deep sorrow and mourning on the demise of Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary.

Party general secretary Raju Kumar Narzary extended his deep condolences on the demise of Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary, said that the tribal peoples of the state lost a great leader with the demise of Borgoyary,who rendered his endless services towards the uplift and rights of the indigenous tribal peoples till his died
” We extend our deep condolences to the bereaved family members, and pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul.We will always remember his contribution and dedication towards the well-being of the down trodden indigenous peoples “,he said.
Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, MLAs Lawrence Islary,Jiron Basumatary, All Bodo Students Union president Dipen Boro, All Assam Tribal Association, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, All Bodo Students Union, Boro Samaj have expressed their deep condolences on his death,and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
