Train Accident claims 15 in West Bengal 2

The death toll in the Agartala-Sealdah Kanchanjangha Express train accident rises to 9, and more than 60 sustained injuries.

The incident took place near New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal this morning about 9 am.
A goods train hit the halted Agartala Sealdah Kanchanjunga Express train where several persons were killed besides leaving more than 60 person’s injuries.
The goods was in a high speed,and hit the halted express train that led to be over jumped on the express train in a tragic situation.
Injury persons immediately rushed to the nearby hospitals,and necessary restoration of the railway services are so far initiated.

Unions Minister for Railway, Ashwini Vaishnav announced an enhanced ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the kin of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh for seriously injured and Rs 50,000 to minor injuries in the accident.
Earlier, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) had also announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lakh each and Rs 50,000 for the deceased and the injured, respectively.

Meanwhile,the rescue operation, and restoration of the services along the NJP route is being initiated by the Railway department.
A senior official team from the Railway department is arrived at the spot,and took stock about the incident.
