KOKRAJHAR, AUG 1: Extending solidarity with Tipra Motha leader David Murasing and his 12- member team undertaking a 2,500-km “Historic Foot-march to Delhi”, several key leaders from Tripura, including former cabinet minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia, MLA Nandita Debbarma, TIPRA Women Federation President Manihar Debbarma, and General Secretary Gita Debbarma, joined the march in Kokrajhar on Friday.
The team, which began its foot-march from Agartala on July 5, reached Kokrajhar on July 30 and resumed its journey toward Delhi the following day. Earlier, they were accorded a warm welcome by Kokrajhar East MLA Lawrence Islary at his office in Kokrajhar.
The foot-march, called the “Historic March to Delhi,” aims to draw national attention to the long-standing issue of infiltration in Tripura. The leaders are pressing for stringent measures by the Central Government to stop illegal infiltration and to ensure constitutional safeguards for the Tiprasa community.
The leaders emphasized that infiltration poses not only a demographic challenge but also a serious security threat, which, he said, must be dealt with an “iron hand.”
The marchers plan to reach Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, where they will submit a blood-signed memorandum to the Centre, demanding justice, constitutional protection, and strong action to curb infiltration.
