Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma remembered in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, AUG 19: The Bodo Sahitya Sabha and Bodo community recalled contributions and dedication of Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma, former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha on his 25th death anniversary, solemnly observed on Tuesday at his burial place Chandamari in Kokrajhar.

The event, organised by the Bodo Sahitya Sabha in collaboration with the Bineswar Brahma Charitable Trust, began with the hoisting of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha flag at half-mast by sabha President Dr. Surath Narzary, followed by floral tributes and homage to the late great leader. A symbolic release of white pigeons was also held, conveying a message of peace.
Notably, Bineswar Brahma was assassinated by armed attackers at his residence in Guwahati in 2000.He was regarded as one of prominent leaders of the Bodo community in his days,and held several positions including president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha besides serving as northeast zonal manager of the FCI.

The commemoration was graced by Assam cabinet minister, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, BTC Legislative Assembly Speaker Katiram Boro, MLA Lawrence Islary, Kokrajhar University Vice Chancellor Prof Ganesh Wary, ABSU vice president Kwrwmdao Wary, general secretary Khanindra Basumatary, Bodo Sahitya Sabha General Secretary Nilakantha Goyary, and several dignitaries from different organisations who paid their respects.

Later, a public meeting was organised, during which a memorial souvenir was also released. 

Addressing the gathering, minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma recalled Bineswar Brahma’s significant contributions to the Bodo Sahitya Sabha and the Bodo community, describing him as a visionary leader dedicated to the cause of literature, culture, and social Brahma said that the Bodo Sahitya Sabha and Bodo community will be remembered his contributions and dedication towards the development and uplift of the Bodo language as well literary world.

President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha,Dr Surath Narzary told that today death anniversary of martyr Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma was observed amidst a well attended gathering in Kokrajhar.He said that Bineswar Brahma sacrificed his life for the cause of the Bodo language and literary.He mentioned that Bodo people will keep alive the philosophy and ideology of Bineswar Brahma.
