KOKRAJHAR, MAR 31: Peoples cutting across the communities, especially Bodo community remembered contribution and dedication of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former president of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) president on his 68th birth anniversary being observed as ‘Student Day ‘ at different districts of the state with a day-long befitting programme scheduled on Sunday.

In Kokrajhar, the central committee of All Bodo Students Union in association with Upendra Nath Brahma Trust (UNBT) and Kokrajhar district committee of the ABSU observed the ‘Student Day’ at Thulungapuri Dotma amidst presence of huge participation of public and student fraternities.
ABSU president Dipen Boro hoisted union flag followed by rich floral tribute to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma on his tomb and samadhi sthal.

On the occasion, the balloons and while pigeons were released by invited guests as a symbolistic mark to meet sustainable peace and tranquility amongst the citizens followed by sapling plantation being carried out to mark the observation of the student day.
President of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha and noted author, Dr Surath Narzary paid rich floral tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.

Eminent journalist from Mumbai, Rupa Chenoy, Assam cabinet minister, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP, Rwngwra Narzary, NDA alliance candidate for Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, Joyanta Basumatary, BTR executive member Ukil Mushahary, chairman of Upendra Nath Brahma Trust, Dr Subung Basumatary, UPPL general secretary, Raju Kumar Narzary, UN Academy Director, Krishna Gopal Basumatary, leaders from Dularai Bodo Primary Teachers Association, Tribal Sangha, Dularai Bodo Harimu Afad were present and offered tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.

ABSU president Dipen Boro, recalled contributions and dedication of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, said that Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma sacrificed his whole life for the welfare and uplift of the down trodden communities including Bodo in the state of Assam as well across the world.
He said that the students union has been observing the birth anniversary of Bodofa as ‘Student Day’ every year on 31st March to keep alive of ideology and philosophy of Bodofa among the society.
He said Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma who had sacrificed his whole life towards the bringing healthy welfare and development especially for down trodden communities including Bodos across the country,and accordingly several down trodden communities have been coming out on their self identification in today’s juncture.
He has sought that Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former president of ABSU must be honoured with Bharat Ratna award, the highest civilian award from Govt of India.

” The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) demanded the Govt of India to award the country’s highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma. Bodofa was a leader not only for Bodos but also for the students and the underprivileged who believed in non-violence. Bodofa, as a student leader, had brought about remarkable changes in the lives of the downtrodden communities through the ‘Bodoland’ movement. Bodofa dreamt of literate society with the motto of ‘live and let live’, Boro added.

An open discussion on the contribution and sacrifice of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma was also held on the occasion, which was chaired by Dipen Boro, ABSU president.
Eminent journalist, Rupa Chenoy graced the occasion as chief guest.
She has highlighted,and recalled contributions of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma who had led the Bodoland movement for the identity and development of the Bodos and other down trodden communities in the region.

In Tamulpur, the Tamulpur district committee of ABSU in association with Tamulpur anchalik committee, ABSU observed the student day being organised at Lahapara LP school playground in Tamulpur.
The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro graced the occasion as chief guest,and offered rich floral tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma on the occasion.

CEM Boro said has said that the student day was observed on 31st March,the birth day of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma,and discussed on the contribution and dedication of Bodofa.
He said that the BTR government has been celebrating the day as “Students Day” every year to keep alive ideology and philosophy of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma among the society.
He has urged the student community for dedicating their hard study in their life to gain up healthy and prosperous life.

The Media Trust, Assam also observed the birth day of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma at it’s Rupnagar office complex in Guwahati.
Members and officials of the Media Trust, Assam offered tributes to Bodofa.
Meanwhile,the government of Assam has declared the 31st March as Chatra Divosh (Student Day) across the state,the birth day of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
Several districts across the state of Assam have also observed the student day with befitting programme scheduled.
