KOKRAJHAR, FEB 8: Representative officials from seven autonomous district councils (ADC) of the northeastern state’s Sixth Schedule visited at the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and it’s Secretariat,Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar on Wednesday, and shared knowledge & information regarding the capacity building under the programme of the ongoing capacity building program on autonomous district councils- financing & resource planning.
The representative officials of Sixth Schedule were included,
- Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council,
- Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council,
- Garo Autonomous District Council,
- Mara Autonomous District Council,
- Lai Autonomous District Council,
- Chakma Autonomous District Council.
The team was led by Dr MK Srivastava, Programme Director, National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) and held several meeting with government officials of the Bodoland Territorial Region.
An interactive sharing was held between the different Sixth Schedule Councils and BTC government which has aimed at strengthening the resources and funding, for the comprehensive rural development of the councils.
Several other pertinent matters was discussed deeply on building cooperation and strengthening of communication like, prepare jointly step for suggestions on Sixth Schedule Amendment Bill and submit to Centre, to have joint representation in Centre & a coordination Secretariat in Guwahati/New Delhi, Knowledge sharing & learning from each other in different subjects were discussed.
The meeting was graced by deputy chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Gobinda Chandra Basumatary, BTR executive member Ranjit Basumatary, Principal Secretary, Akash Deep, and other senior government officials from BTC, block development officer(BDOs).
Deputy CEM, Basumatary said that the program was a good sharing initiative on the part of capacity building program on the financing and development of Sixth Schedule councils.
