Kokrajhar, Nov 29: Sensational prevailed along the Kokrajhar town following a murder of retired agriculture engineer in town this morning.
The incident took place at Ward no.3 in Kokrajhar town.
According to police, a person who was labour worker at the construction of house of engineer entered the house in the early morning around 5 am and attacked the couple of engineers with a sharp dao where engineer recieved serious injuries on his neck and bodies besides his wife also sustained serious injured.
The person, later immediately left the spot after attacking the elderly couple when local peoples rushed to the spot.
The retired engineer was identified as Tapan Chakrabarty, retired agriculture engineer and his wife Madhumitha Banerjee, resident of Bidhanpalli of Kokrajhar town.
The engineer Chakrabarty, later succumbed to Lower Assam Hospital, Bongaigaon.
Madhumita Banerjee, retired high school headteacher, who is now going under treatment at a hospital in Kokrajhar.
The attacker who was involved as a painting labour at Chakrabarty’s house, and accordingly on the scope of early morning, the labour attacked the couple and tried to snatching the properties including ornaments of gold, cash money.
The labour was identified as Sambhu Kahar.
A high police team rushed the spot and started it’s investigation into the incident.
Local peoples have demanded strict investigation and nab the culprit for strict punishment.
Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, local MLA Lawrence Islary have condemned the incident and urged the police administration to take strict step and punished the involved culprit.
