Selection process of Dr Bashiram Boro Doctoral Fellowship scheme commenced

KOKRAJHAR,DEC 10: In a significant step towards the ushering of educational development in Bodoland region, the Dr. Bashiram Boro Doctoral Fellowship Scheme for 2024 has commenced its selection process to extend financial support 50 PhD aspirants from the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) districts. 
Speaking to reporters at a press conference held at the Directorate Office of education department in Kokrajhar on Monday, Jagadish Prasad Brahma told that the selection process for the Dr Bashiram Boro Doctoral Fellowship Scheme has so far commenced across the BTR districts.

Notably, this noble initiative aims to encourage higher education and research among students in the region under the department of education, government of Bodoland Territorial Region.

Brahma stated that the necessary preparation and initiatives so far initiated for conducting the selection procedures with measures.
Each selected candidate will receive ₹90,000 every six months, totaling ₹3.6 lakh over two-years.

The fellowship honors Dr Bashiram Boro, the first PhD holder from the Bodo community (awarded in 1979),and accordingly the scheme has been emphasized to extend support to the aspiring PhD candidates.

Brahma also said that the initiative was 
launched in October 2 last by CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro, aiming promote higher education and innovation amongst the students. The initiative has been offering financial support to meritorious doctoral candidates and  fostering community development and academic excellence.
