Jam-e-Masjid Imam Parishad extends open support to UPPL.

KOKRAJHAR, SEP 4: As the BTC general elections is nocking scheduled to be held on September 22,  the Jam-e-Masjid Imam Parishad extended open support to the ruling UPPL party in the interest of peace, harmony, and development in Bodoland region.

Addressing the reporters at a press conference on Thursday in Kokrajhar, Sheikh Ahmed Ali, General Secretary of Kokrajhar and Chirang district committees of the Jam-e-Masjid Imam Parishad, stated that peace and communal harmony have been remained intact in the five-year rule of the UPPL government in BTR under the leadership of Pramod Boro. He emphasized that to preserve this peaceful atmosphere in Bodoland, Pramod Boro’s party must be brought back to power for another five years to have good governance and healthy development in Bodoland region.

He also appealed to all communities, including religious minorities, irrespective of caste, creed, or faith, to rise above narrow interests and cast their votes for the UPPL under Pramod Boro’s leadership in the BTC elections. He praised Pramod Boro’s initiatives that helped restore peace in Bodoland over the past five years.

The Parishad also strongly condemned BJP’s tactics to capture power in BTC, warning people to remain politically vigilant and vowing to boycott the violence-prone BJP in the region.

During the press meet, the Parishad criticized BJP for branding religious minority citizens in districts like Dhubri, Goalpara, and Chapar as “Bangladeshis,” thereby humiliating, depriving, and discriminating against them. It appealed to the people not to allow such communal and violent forces like BJP to gain ground in the BTC elections.

The Imam Parishad firmly declared that only by boycotting BJP in Bodoland can people live in peace and tranquility amongst the citizens in the region.
