KOKRAJHAR, MAR 8: Along with rest of the state, the International Women’s Day 2024 was celebrated on Friday with befitting programme scheduled at different places in the entire districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) highlighting the theme of ‘invest in women, accelerate progress ‘ that attracted to audience participation on the occasion.

In Kokrajhar, marking the international women’s day celebration, Praneswari Brahma, a successful Tribal women vendor of Taraibari village in Kokrajhar was conferred the 13th Aijw Falangi Bantha (Woman Entrepreneur Award), 2024 at a programme held at the Gwjwn Dera, Chandrapara in Kokrajhar.
The award has been conferred by North East Research and Social Work Networking (NERSWN), a Kokrajhar based NGO working for social welfare.
The award consists of a citation, cash of Rs 20,000, Indi showl and traditional Aronai.
Social activist and writer, Rani Helen Wary,and several dignataries were present in the program.

The Debargaon block committee women’s wing of the ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) celebrated the international women’s day at Debargaon block party office amidst presence of party workers, members and well wishers.
An open discussion on the theme of the ‘invest in women, accelerate progress ‘ was conducted on the occasion, which was chaired by Champa Roy, president of Debargaon Block Committee women’s wing of UPPL party.
Party leaders from central committee of UPPL women’s wing, district committee leaders,block coordinator were prominent attendees in the event.
Several block committees of women’s wing under Kokrajhar district also celebrated the international women’s day at their respective areas.

The Chirang district committee of UPPL women’s day have also celebrated the international women’s day at various places that saw a good response from the women fraternities across the district.
Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) extended his warm greetings and best wishes to all women community of the region as well state on the occasion of international women’s day, said that today is the day for women fraternities across the globe.
He said that the BTR government has been rendering relentlessly towards the welfare and uplift of the women fraternities across the Bodoland region,and subsequently launched various missions and schemes highlighting the social welfare oriented missions which are meant for the well-being of the especially women fraternities.

” It is a pleasure moment to be part of the happy International Womens Day today being celebrated across the state. We commemorate the invaluable contributions and outstanding achievements of Nari Shakti. Our Govt of BTR steadfastly upholds the cause of gender equality and women’s empowerment”, Boro said.
