KOKRAJHAR, MAY 21: The Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club of NTPC Bongaigaon, Salakati conducted a special awareness programme on menstrual hygiene at Salakati ME School, Kokrajhar as part of the Swachhata Pakhwada program (16–31 May 2025).
The event focused on teaching school children, especially adolescent girls, about the importance of hygiene. A key session on menstrual hygiene management was led by Dr. Chandni Brahma from NTPC Bongaigaon Hospital. She explained safe menstrual practices, correct use and disposal of sanitary napkins, and addressed common health concerns.
Kasturi Maitra, President of the Ladies Club, highlighted that menstrual hygiene is not just about health, but also self-respect and empowerment. She stressed the importance of early education to help girls grow up with awareness and confidence.
The team distributed 200 hygiene kits to the girls, equipping them with essential resources for safe menstrual care.
The programme saw active participation from the Ladies Club members, including Vice President Soumya Kar, and NTPC officials Pranami Handique (Senior Manager, HR) and Smriti Das (Executive, CSR).
Local citizens of the area have expressed their gratitude and thanks to the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club for carrying this noble venture to create awareness and sensitisation on the menstrual hygiene awareness event.
