NDA candidate Joyanta Basumatary cast his vote at Thangabari polling centre
KOKRAJHAR, MAY 7: The third phase polling of the Lok Sabha elections in the four constituencies in the state of Assam including Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency was concluded on Tuesday with peaceful under a strict security vigil in the entire Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency.
Nearly 78 percent polling was reported in Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency which has been covering nine LACs till 5 PM, the Returning Officer of Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency and district commissioner, Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi stated.
However, turn out may go up as the voters in many polling stations in remote areas are still casting their votes till the filing of this report.
Voting started late in some polling stations due to complaints of EVM glitches, which were later repaired.
As per official update upto 5 PM the turn out in the three Assembly segments under Kokrajhar HPC namely Kokrajhar is 74.67. Baukhungri 76.16% and Dotma 77.40%.
Assam Cabinet Minister, Urkhao Gwra Brahma cast his vote at Chalani Batabari LP School PS in Dotma LAC, Kokrajhar MLA, Lawrence Islary cast his vote ar Gaurang School Polling Station in Kokrajhar LAC, Congress candidate Gorjon Mashahary cast his vote at Katigacha LP school PS in Baukhungri LAC while BPF president Hagrama Mohilary cast his vote at Debargaon LP School in Kokrajhar LAC. UPPL candidate, supported by NDA alliance, Joyanta Basumatary cast his vote at Thangabari LP School Polling Centre in the early morning at Sidli Chirang LAC.
Meanwhile, police arrested a BPF supporter from Patharghat area under Kokrajhar police station for allegedly involving to owe voters to cast vote in favour of BPF during poll time.
On the other hand, a group of alleged miscreants have this afternoon attacked some BPF supporters near BPF central office along the JD Road. As a result a private news channel cameraman minorly injured.
Police rushed to the spot, however no any major incident reported till now.
The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region,and UPPL president, Pramod Boro has expressed his confident that the NDA alliance candidate for Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, Joyanta Basumatary is getting last laugh from Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency in a huge margin of votes as people cutting across the communities have cast their votes in favour of NDA alliance.He said that the citizens have faith on UPPL candidate,back by NDA alliance,and accordingly cast their votes in a huge manner.
NDA candidate, Joyanta Basumatary said that he gets the majority support,and well wishes cutting across the communities in the entire Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency.He said that he will dedicate his services for the wellbeing of the common masses in days to come.
Minister Brahma said that people have cast their votes in favour of NDA alliance candidate, and accordingly Joyanta Basumatary’s winning is very much clear.
“This time,the polling.environment was seen very good,and people have cast their votes in a smooth and healthy environment.I am very much happy with the good management of election procedures”,said a voter in Kokrajhar.
