DC urges to co-operate
KOKRAJHAR,MAY 7 : Along with rest of the state, a District-Level Mock Drill titled “Operation Abhyaas” was concluded at Kokrajhar Railway Station on Wednesday.
The event was organised by Kokrajhar district administration that featured involvement of multiple stakeholders.
The drill aims to simulate an air raid and its consequences and involve coordinated participation from multiple stakeholders, including Civil Defence, Police, Fire & Emergency Services, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Health Department, Power Department, DIPRO, and others.
The drill feature Activation of air raid warning sirens, Announcements via FLS systems and police patrol vehicles, Fire engine sirens and emergency response activation, Blackout procedures and search & rescue operations, Casualty evacuation from damaged structures, Temporary hospital setup, Evacuation of civilians from high-risk areas to safe zones and Civil Defence training for civilians on how to protect themselves in the event of a hostile attack.
The exercise is designed to assess and enhance the readiness of the Civil Defence mechanism in the event of an air raid.
As part of the drill, a blackout will be observed from 7:00 PM to 7:05 PM at District Commissioner’s Office Premises, Superintendent of Police Office Premises, SBI Office to DRDA Office Premises, Circuit House area, including the north side of Kokrajhar town.
The district administration has issued de Public advisory during the blackout and asked to,Turn off all lights, Close windows and curtains and remain calm and composed.
District Commissioner, Masanda Magdalin Pertin stated that the mock drills have been organised for activation of air raid warning sirens, announcements via FLS systems and police patrol vehicles, Fire engine sirens and emergency response activation, Blackout procedures and search & rescue operations, Casualty evacuation from damaged structures, Temporary hospital setup, Evacuation of civilians from high-risk areas to safe zones and Civil Defence training for civilians on how to protect themselves in the event of a hostile attack.
She has urged the public to cooperate fully and remain calm during the drill. This is a preparedness exercise for the safety and security of all citizens.
