KOKRAJHAR, FEB 19: A memorial lecture in memory of social activist and former president of All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS) Late Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary was conducted at MMB Memorial Hall in Kokrajhar Govt college on Sunday that saw a gathering of huge participation.
The programme was organised by civil society of greater Kokrajhar and supported by Bodo social organisations in memory of great leader Late Borgoyary.
Assam cabinet minister,and Sahitya Akademi award winner, Urkhao Gwra Brahma attended the programme, and inaugurated the programme amidst presence of several senior citizens and dignataries.
A souvenir “Haribwdwr: Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary, reflecting contributions and upholding his memory with reverence and respect was released to keep alive dedication and rendering services for wellbeing of the Bodos and other tribal peoples.
A lecture on the life and works of Late Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary was also held where Late Borgoyary”s closest friend and president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Dr Surath Narzary, All Assam Tribal Sangha general secretary, Aditya Kakhlary, adviser of Tribal Sangha, Pandav Rabha were attended as speakers.
Intellectuals, leaders from various organisations including Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Tribal Sangha, ABSU, Bodo Samaj, Harimu Afad, Bathou Gouthum and other attended and offered floral tributes.
Earlier, a Bathou Aroj( Bathou prater) was performed.
Minister Urkao Gwra Brahma said the contribution of Late Ranjit Kr Borgoyary in upliftment of Bodo and tribal people of Assam is immense.
” A multifaceted personality, Borgoyary was the chairman of ABSU’s constitution drafting committee, architect of ABSU’s emblem”, Brahma added.
Notably,he received chief minister Best Community Action Award in 2020.
Late Ranjit kr Borgoyari expired on 20 January (2024) at his own residence Titaguri in Kokrajhar due to age ailments.
