KOKRAJHAR, OCT 16:  As part of the ongoing “Seva Hi Samarpan: Seva Saptah” initiative of the Government of Assam, a series of Mega Health Camps under the “Shushrusa Setu” initiative began on Wednesday across Kokrajhar district to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

The mega health camps are being held across five Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) of the district throughout the month of October.

The first camp commenced at Soraibil Model Hospital under Gossaigaon LAC, marking the start of this statewide health outreach initiative. At the camp, a total of 2,102 beneficiaries availed healthcare services.

A wide range of diagnostic tests were conducted, including 56 X-rays, 63 imaging tests, 39 ultrasounds, and 1,947 laboratory tests, totalling 3,483 diagnostic procedures. Additionally, 85 patients were referred to higher healthcare centres for advanced medical care.

The “Shushrusa Setu” initiative aims to provide free diagnostic tests for over 50 diseases, with a special focus on children and adolescents below 18 years of age. The camps offer free consultations, treatment, follow-up care, and referrals to specialized hospitals, ensuring that essential healthcare reaches even the remotest sections of society.

The district administration and health department have sought active participation and cooperation from all departments and the general public to ensure the success of the initiative.

The upcoming camps in Kokrajhar district are scheduled at Tipkai Model Hospital under Parbatjhora LAC on October 17, Karigaon Model Hospital under Kokrajhar LAC on October 24, Serfanguri Model Hospital under Dotma LAC on October 29, and Fakiragram Model Hospital under Baukhungri LAC on October 31.
