Laikhuta lays for ABSU’s 57th annual conference at Dotma

Union Home Minister Amit Shah to attend the event 

KOKRAJHAR, FEB 2: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) is holding it’s 57th annual conference at Bodofa Fwthar, Dotma in Kokrajhar district from 13th to 16th March,2025.
The four-day colourful event is expected to bring together prominent leaders, policymakers, and student representatives to address several issues concerning the Bodo community, especially education, social integration.

On Sunday, a ceremonial Laikhuta for the event was laid with traditional Bodo rituals.
 ABSU president, Dipen Boro, General Secretary Khanindra, Basumatary, Assam cabinet minister, Urkhao Gwra Brahma laid the Laikhuta in the august presence of MLA Jiron Basumatary, and BTR executive member,Ukil Mushahary.

During the event,the students union will discuss at length on the several key issues, including enhancing quality education and advocating for the Bodo language as a medium of instruction.
Preserving and promoting Bodo culture, arts, and literature, improving the socio-economic conditions of the Bodo people.
The expanding the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), including constituency reorganisation and village inclusion. Seeking greater administrative powers for the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The session is expected to draw national and regional leaders, including Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and BTC chief executive member, Pramod Boro. Their participation highlights the importance of the discussions that will shape policies and developmental strategies for the Bodo community.
 A new ABSU central executive committee will also be formed during the session to lead the organisation’s future initiatives.

ABSU president, Dipen Boro told that the Dotma session will be regarded as a historic event, emphasising its role in influencing policies on education, economic development, land rights, and cultural preservation.He said that the session is witnessing a grand participation of the peoples cutting across the communities which is marking the 57th annual conference on it’s journey.He stated that the session will discuss elaborately on the ushering of education and welfare as development of the Bodo community.

” With key stakeholders in attendance, the session is expected to serve as a major platform for addressing the community’s pressing concerns and paving the way for empowerment and progress”,Boro added.
ABSU president Dipen Boro appealed to all citizens of the society to extend support and cooperation while bringing a grand success in a meaningful way.

Meanwhile, the reception committee and sub-committees for the conference are seen busy in their preparation and arrangements to meet the conference a grand success.
 A massive prepration and arrangements are going on in full swing host the grand event of the students union.
Several colourful programmes including exhibition, cultural, literary, games and sports are going to be organised besides hosting of seminar, group discussions in the event.
