Kati Gasa festival celebrates in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, Oct 19: Along with rest of the state, the Kati Gasa (Kati Bihu) was celebrated in Kokrajhar-the city of peace on Thursday with traditional phenomenon at the Gendrabil paddy field in the district.

Farmers, apart from men and women are come out to celebrate the Kati Gasa in the evening to offer prayer and worship to the God Kartik devota.

The event was organised by women’s wing of Kokrajhar district of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) in association with Baukhugri block committee that gathered huge thronging  to mark the first day of the Karthik month at Gendrabil village near Kokrajhar town. Members of the party with traditional Bodo dokhona attire come out with prayer materials and lighted the Gasa (lamp) at the paddy field and offered their prayer and worship to the Kartik devota.

Raju Kumar Narzary, general secretary of UPPL, Pratibha Brahma, president of women’s wing and chairperson of Kokrajhar municipality board, Hantigiri Narzary, media cell secretary, general secretaries of Kokrahar district committee, UPPL Amulya Sutradhar, Suraj Kumar Mushahary were graced occasion and lighted the Gasa amidst presence of huge gathering.

UPPL general secretary Raju Kumar Narzary has extended his best wishes to all citizens of the state on the occasion of Kati Gasa festival which is celebrated across the state. He said that the Kati Gasa is a festival of harvesting crops.

Pratibha Brahma while participating the celebration said that they have offered prayer and worship to the Kartik devota to get welfare and wellbeing of paddy crops and human beings.

Pramod Boro,the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, extended greetings to the citizens of the state on the occasion of Kati Gasa festival (Kati Bihu), said that it is a festival of peoples who are involving with agricultural cropping among the society.

Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary, MLA Lawrence Islary, ABSU president Dipen Boro have have wished a happy Kati Bihu to all citizens of the state.
