CM Sarma announces 500 crores for BTR development
KOKRAJHAR,FEB 17: The first-ever Budget Session out of the existing Assam Legislative Assembly House being held on Monday at the BTC Legislative Assembly House, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar drawn an applause and attraction from the citizens of the citizens cutting across the communities in the state.
The elected members of the Assam Legislative Assembly including ministers have arrived in Kokrajhar in three chartered buses by road from Guwahati.
The elected members, including chief minister and ministers were accorded warm welcome and felicitation with traditional Aronai in the BTC Legislative Assembly complex before the start of the assembly session.
The chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma,and all legislators have offered floral tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma in front of the BTC Secretariat.
Needs to be mentioned that peoples cutting across the communities in Bodoland Territorial Region have extended their welcome greetings to the legislators on the national highways, approaching state roads who have travelled via road for the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
Assam Governor, Lakshman Prasad Acharya offered his inaugural address on the first day of the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
The session was chaired by Biswajit Daimary, speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
Governor Acharya said that the state is now reached in a ushering of sustainable development in the state.He stated that the inaugural session of the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly held in Kokrajhar today amidst a peaceful environment.
Acharya has highlighted about welfare and development initiatives initiated by state government under the philosophy of ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi” in the state.
During the session, a special discussion on the welfare and development of the Sixth Schedule was held where all elected members including ruling and opposition leaders were took part.
UPPL legislature leader, Lawrence Islary highlighted the importance of development of Sixth Schedule, said that the Sixth Schedule councils must be uplifted as well developed.
In the discussion, chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that today’s day is regarded as a historic and eventful for the people of the state as the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly held out of the existing Assam Legislative Assembly House.He said that the state is now gained up it’s welfare and development on it’s existence,and accordingly the Kokrajhar successfully conducted the inaugural session of the budget session.
He said that people cutting across the communities are having witnessed peace and tranquility under the banner good governance in Bodoland region as well state.
CM Sarma has announced financial assistance for three sixth schedule councils, including Rs 500 crores for the development of Bodoland Territorial Region,Rs 200 crores for Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Rs 100 crores for the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council.He said that the state government is committed to work for all round development and welfare of the sixth schedule councils and autonomous councils across the state.
CM Sarma has hailed the address of the Governor Acharya in the assembly session.
” The Hon’ble Governor’s address at the historic Assam Assembly session in Kokrajhar showcased our commitment to the philosophy of ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi.’The speech outlined our government’s growth roadmap and highlighted key achievements, all driven by our people-centric governance approach”, CM Sarma said.
Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Biswajit Daimary said that the inaugural session of the budget session saw a smooth successful with a day-long discussion on various developmental aspects including welfare and development of the sixth schedule councils.
Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region stated that the hosting of the Budget Session in Kokrajhar is a historic and a significant chapter in the Assam’s legislative history.He said that people of the region have extended their deep cooperation and support while hosting the Assembly session in a meaningful way.
