KOKRAJHAR, JAN 2: A one-day awareness programme on the topic of ‘reclaiming the climate for a resilient and sustainable future’ under the Green Bodoland Mission (GBM),Govt of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) was held at the Bimalanagar Thongsi near Nagrijuli in Tamulpur district on Thursday.
The event discussed at length on the building up of green, smart and peaceful Bodoland which was organised by the Green Bodoland Mission (GBM),an initiative of government of BTR that emphasizing for bringing green, smart and peaceful Bodoland.
Notably,the Green Bodoland Mission was launched in July last,and till date 258 youth clubs across the BTR were engaged and ten villages have been adopted under the mission.
The Bimalanagar village under Nagrijuli constituency in Tamulpur has been declared as adopted village under the Green Bodoland Mission,and necessary strategies have been so far initiated to develop the village from the concerned authorities.
More than 1.2 lakh saplings have been planted at various places under the GBM mission in the plantation drive, particularly community land, forest land, village playground in the entire Bodoland region.
The Bimalanagar village is naturally looking attracted with beautiful landscape along the tourism hotspot site in Tamulpur district.
Hundreds of peoples cutting across the communities from the village participated,and shared views on the mission,and it’s importance towards the bringing green, smart and peaceful Bodoland.
A power point presentation on the topic of waste management and it’s important measurable step was also presented amongst the audience highlighting about the feature of awareness bringing amongst the citizens
BTR executive member,Dharma Narayan Das, Mission Director, Manaranjan Das, UPPL media secretary, Hantigiri Narzary, SEED adviser Ranjan Kumar Baruah,Pradeep Baishya, Assam Engineering College, Guwahati,Binita Baishya,owner of Guwahati Waste Management were graced as guests on the occasion.
EM Das has lauded the initiative of Green Bodoland Mission while afforestation across the Bodoland region.He said that the BTR government under the leadership of Pramod Boro, the CEM of BTR is working dedicatedly towards the welfare and development of the society since it’s inception in the reign of BTR.He stated that the GBM has received a good response from the common masses.He has urged the participants and local peoples to avoid the use of plastics at any costs to meet a congenial environment across the region.He said that the BTR of has emphasized to establish plastic free environment situation in days to come ahead.
Mission Director Manaranjan Das told that several ten villages have been adopted under the Green Bodoland Mission across the entire Bodoland region,and accordingly awareness programs are organising involving youth clubs, local peoples, NGO members, mahila samities etc while creating awareness on the tree plantation,and it’s maintenance.He also said that the citizens also made awareness on the initiatives of making plastic free environment along the villages with mission to have a congenial human well-being situation.He said that the GBM has initiated various humanity welfare services for bringing healthy life leading through the mission.
He has urged the citizens to come forward to extend cooperation and support while producing green and smart Bodoland.
