Floral Tributes and Swachh Bharat Divas in Kokrajhar
KOKRAJHAR, OCT 2: The districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) have joined the celebrations of 156th Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Mahandas Karamchand Gandhi, father of the nation, on Thursday along with befitting programme scheduled at different places.
In Kokrajhar, UPPL president, Pramod Boro paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his birth anniversary being held at Chandrapara.Party leaders and well wishers have participated the event and paid floral tributes to Gandhiji.He recalled contributions and dedication of Gandhi ji who sacrificed his life for the freedom of India.He said that the Gabdhian philosophy of satya and ahimsa have always been the ideals of his journey.

Happy to have observed the 156th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji today with my colleagues at Kokrajhar- the City of Peace. May this Gandhi Jayanti rekindle truth and non-violence everywhere in our world”, he said.
The district administration, Kokrajhar, observed Gandhi Jayanti today with floral tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, followed by the observance of Swachh Bharat Divas as part of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign.
District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, Masanda Pertin, paid homage to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Park by offering floral tributes and highlighting the timeless values of truth, non-violence and selfless service embodied by the great leader. The programme also highlighted the district’s commitment to carrying forward Gandhi’s vision of a clean and self-reliant India.
This was followed by the Swachh Bharat programme organised by the District Administration in collaboration with the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Panchayat & Rural Development (P&RD), and Urban Local Bodies (ULB). Senior officials, including ADCs, along with officers and staff of the DC Office, Kokrajhar Municipal Board (KMB), PHE, and other departments, actively participated in the cleanliness drive and awareness activities conducted as part of the day-long observance.
In Udalguri, the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) observed the Gandhi Jayanti at Bishnu Rabha complex, Bhergaon.
ABSU president Dipen Boro,and students union leaders offered tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion where hundreds of students union activist and citizens were attended.
The students union observed the Gandhi Jayanti,the international day of non violence at units, anchalik and districts in Bodoland Territorial Region and Assam.
Boro stated that the peace and non-violence is the principle and all are guided by Gandhiji and Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
” Honouring 156 Birth Anniversary of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, ABSU observed ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ , the international day of non-violence at units, anchalic and districts in Bodoland region and Assam. At Bishnu Rabha premises, Bhergaon we paid tribute to Gandhiji. Peace and non-violence is our principle and we all are guided by Gandhiji and Bodofa. Our fight against anti-social activities drugs, witch hunting, human trafficking, child marriage will continue. Social reform through education and principle of democratic value shall need to be established”, Boro said.
