KOKRAJHAR,SEP 8: Gabinda Basumatary FC,Jaraguri defeated the Banjar FC, Kachugaon 2-1 goals to lift the trophy of the Dibakar Chandra Narzary Memorial Football Trophy in the final match being held at the Binyakata ME School playground in Kokrajhar district on Sunday.
Gabinda Basumatary FC netted two goals against Banjar FC in the first half,and led the match 1-0 goal till the first half.
During the second half,Banjar FC reduced a goal by scoring goal against the Gabinda Basumatary FC,and lost to the Gabinda Basumatary FC 1-2 goals.
The football trophy was organised by the Binyakata Mouza Club cum Library in memory of Late Dibakar Chandra Narzary,noted social worker in the greater Binyakata area.
A total eight teams were participated the tournament,and created sporting amusement amongst the football lovers in the area which was started on second September.
The championship team was awarded cash INR 31,000 and a trophy while runners up team was given away cash INR 21,000 and a trophy respectively.
Dr Surath Narzary, president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Dr Kumud Ranjan Basumatary, principal of Gossaigaon College, MCLA Rahindra Brahma, Raju Kumar Narzary,son of late Dibakar Chandra Narzary, Birphung Narzary, son of late Dibakar Chandra Narzary were graced as guests in the prize distribution ceremony, and handed over the trophies to the championship and runners up team.
