Ex-BLT Welfare Society outside BTR hails govt.move to provide financial assistance to Ex-BLT cadres

KOKRAJHAR, MAY 31: Ex-BLT Welfare Society of outside Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) on Thursday hailed the move of the state government to provide ex-gratia financial assistance to Ex-BLT cadres of outside BTR districts who did not receive financial assistance despite formal surrender ceremony after BTC accord in 2003. The society also conveyed it’s gratitude to the government of Assam for phase-I notification of 957 villages included in BKWAC.

The president of the Coordination Committee of Ex-BLT Welfare Society (Outside BTR) Santanu Basumatary and secretary Bistiram Narzary told The Sentinel that an executive committee meeting of the Co-Ordination Committee of the Ex. BLT Welfare Society, outside BTR was held on Thursday May at the conference hall of BKWAC office at Bodoland Bhawan in Guwahati.

The meeting presided over by Santanu Basumatary , president of Ex. BLT Welfare Society, outside BTR hailed the government initiative to start police verification of ex- BLT cadres across the state to provide ex-gratis financial assistance for them. The meeting hailed the government notification of Bodo villages included in BKWAC. The meeting vehemently condemned the Pahalgam barbaric attack on innocent tourists by Pakistan sponsored terrorists and offered condolences to 26 tourists who got killed in the grusome attack. Further, the meeting extended support and hailed the Operation Sindoor.

The Coordination Committee of Ex-BLT urged the State and Union Governments to implement the remaining clauses of BTR accord in letter and spirit especially the matter of inclusion of Bodo people living in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao Autonomous districts of Assam into the S.T (Hills) list of Indian Constitution without further delay. They also urged the State and Union Goverments to settle the Bodo villages to include in BKWAC from Biswanath, Sanitpur, South Kamrup and Goalpara districts of Assam as early as possible. They further appealed the government of Assam and government at the centre to start delimitation of constituencies in BKWAC for holding the first General Election to the council as early as possible.
