KOKRAJHAR, OCT 14: The districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) have also joined the celebrations of the Sri Sri Durga Puja with festivity fervour as the Durga Puja celebration was concluded on Sunday after a four-day programme scheduled that marked peaceful and tranquility amongst the citizens across the region.
More than 450 puja mandhaps have erected puja pandals in the entire BTR districts to celebrate the festive Durga Puja with pomp and gaity environment.
In Kokrajhar district, a total of 212 puja mandhaps were erected at three subdivisions like Kokrajhar Sadar, Gossaigaon and Parbathjora.
On the occasion of the Maha Ashtami, Assam chief minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited at several puja mandhaps,and offered his worship to the Goddess Durga amidst presence of huge devotees and followers.
Dr Sarma visited at five Puja mandhaps in Kokrajhar including Main Bazar Durga Puja Mandhap in the morning,and greeted devotees and citizens on the occasion.
He was accompanied by Pramod Boro,the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region,Lok Sabha MP, Joyanta Basumatary.
Dr Sarma arrived in Kokrajhar in a Helicopter,and visited five puja mandhaps during his Kokrajhar visit.
Later,he rushed to Basugaon and Bijni of Chirang district where he visited several puja mandhaps.He also rushed to Basugaon on the partt of his schedule to visit puja mandhaps.
Dr Sarma wished a happy Durga Puja to all citizens of the state,and said that the Bodoland region is.now prevailed peace and tranquility amongst the citizens, that’s why the puja mandhaps are seen very disciplined and smooth with peaceful.He said that he visited Kokrajhar during the puja celebration as he had promised a schedule for puja celebration in Kokrajhar,and accordingly he came and worship to the Goddess Durga Maa.
CEM Pramod Boro haa extended his sincere thanks to the chief minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for visiting Kokrajhar and Chirang district on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja during the Maha Ashtami Day.

Boro also greeted to all citizens on the divine occasion of Vijaya Dashami said, ” we celebrate the victory of good over evil, and bid a tearful farewell to the Cosmic Mother, Maa Durga.May her divine blessings usher in everlasting peace & happiness in our BTR and in our hearts. Wishing all my fellow citizens a very Shubho Bijaya Dashami”.
The puja mandhaps of the Durga Puja celebration saw a huge thronged of devotees and followers during the festivity occasion in Kokrajhar.
The puja celebration gathered attraction of devotees and visitors as puja organisers erected attractive mandhaps with decorations which highlighted the worshiping to the Goddess Durga Maa.
The Gangotri -Yamunatri mandhap erected by the Jahnabee Club near Circuit House in Kokrajhar gathered a huge crowd of peoples cutting across the devotees.The Jahnabee Club organised the 57th Puja mabdhap this year that highlighted the river Gangotri-Yamunatri on its mandhap decorations.
On Sunday,the idols of the Durga Goddesses was immersed at different ghats and river banks in the entire Kokrajhar district in a tight security vigil.
Several river bank and ghats were kept a strict security vigil and SDRF jawans were also deployed during the emerson of the idols of the Goddess Durga Maa.
In Gaurang River,Kokrajhar, emerson of idols of Goddess Durga Maa took place amid huge crowd of peoples under a tight security vigil.
The idol emerson was also held at various river banks and ghats including Hel River,Gongia River, Sangkosh River, Tarong River etc.
