Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Durand Cup in Kokrajhar 3

KOKRAJHAR, AUG 5: Rajasthan United Football Club (UFC) defeated Bodoland Football Club (FC) 1-0 goal in the inaugural match of Durand Cup being held at SAI stadium in Kokrajhar on Saturday which have witnessed a huge sports loving spectators gathering.

The 132nd edition of Durand Cup 2023 is being held at SAI stadium in Kokrajhar along with other two playgrounds- Guwahati and Kolkata across the country.
The event was organised by Indian Armed Forces and supported by the government of Assam and Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) which is regarded as an oldest football event in the Asian continent.

The match was seen draw with goalless till the first half that created sports great enthusiastic moment amongst the spectator gathering.
In the second half, Rajasthan scored a goal against Bodoland within the few minutes start of the second half start.
The second half has also been compelled to stop due to pouring of heavy rain. Later, the match was resumed after near about an hour where Bodoland FC tried to reduce the goal by scoring goals, but couldn’t score goal till the full time of the match and accordingly lost to Rajasthan United FC 0-1.

Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh graced the occasion as chief guest to inaugurate the Durand Cup in Kokrajhar amidst huge gathering of sports loving spectators.
Minister Singh landed in a special Indian Army Helicopter and was accompanied with Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Union Defence Minister Singh was accorded warm welcome and felicitation with traditional Aronai and offered a grand Serja, a musical instrument of Bodo community on the occasion.

Singh has extended his best wishes and greetings to all the participating team of the Durand Cup, said that the mega football event is an oldest football event across the Asian continent.
He said that the football event is a sporting event and also have an emotion environment among the sports persons and spectators.
He was impressed with the huge gathering of sports loving citizens across the region, said that the event has been created a good sports enthusiasts among the citizens.
He has lauded the organisers as well government of Assam and Bodoland Territorial Region for hosting the mega football event in a successful manner.

The chief minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed his happiness and gladness having seen the Durand Cup which has witnessed a grand participation of citizens from different areas.
He has announced to construct a multi purpose stadium in Kokrajhar with an amounting of Rs 110 crores from the state government to facilitate healthy sporting amusement. He has appreciated the organisers for organising the mega football event in the state.

The chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro while welcoming the Durand Cup, a mega football event being held in Kokrajhar, said that today is a red letter day for the whole of Bodoland Territorial Region as Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh Ji declares open the Kokrajhar leg of 132nd edition of Durand Cup at SAI Stadium, Kokrajhar-The City of Peace..
He said that the day’s moment was an impressive that mark the sport’s happy enthusiastic environment.
He has extended his gratitude to CM Dr Sarma for announcing ₹ 110 crore for the construction of a new state-of-the-art stadium in Kokrajhar, which once completed will give new wings to BTRs sports infra, while giving fillip to the region’s immense sporting potential.
